Are you willing to be my press agent?
Hey everybody, Devo Spice was kind enough to write the following press release for me: ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- --------------------- Novelty Song Helps Promote The Wisconsin Dells July 7, 2009 The Dells, that area of Wisconsin known as the "Waterpark Capital of The World", now has its own novelty song. On July 7th the artist known as The Great Luke Ski released We're Goin' To The Dells (The Wisconsin Dells). The song serves as both a tribute to and promotion for The Dells. Luke "the great Luke Ski" Sienkowski is a dementia artist- a musician who writes funny songs- who has become one of the most popular artists on the nationally syndicated Dr. Demento Show . He writes pop and rap songs about various pop culture and nerdy topics such as Star Trek, Babylon 5, and Family Guy. Recently he turned his songwriting muse to a place where he spent a lot of time growing up. "I've been in love with the place since childhood," says Luke "and this song is my love letter to it." Luke also hopes the song will help promote The Dells which were hurt last year by flooding. The floods caused Lake Delton to breach its shoreline which emptied into the Wisconsin River in just four hours. Many homes were literally washed away and local businesses that relied on the lake couldn't operate because the lake had mostly emptied. The song pays tribute to the entire area, often mentioning some of the more popular attractions by name even though Luke is not formally associated with any of them. At Big Sky Drive-In your ceiling is starry. Pirate’s Cove Mini Golf, where the staff is all “ARR!”-y. I used to visit reptiles at Serpent Safari, Now I’m a Flowrider at the Kalahari. We're Goin' To The Dells (The Wisconsin Dells) by The Great Luke Ski is currently available as a free download from The Funny Music Project at www.TheFuMP.com. ### ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- -------------- I am about to get in my car and spend 2 days driving to Orlando with Kiki for Nerdapalooza, and sadly have run out of time. What I would like is to find someone who is willing to send this press release to: * Radio Stations in the vicinity of the Wisconsin Dells (within 50 miles at least, possibly the whole state, and Twin Cities & Chicago) * All of the businesses mentioned in the song (links to all of them are here: http://www.thefump.com/lyrics.php?id=1200 ) * The Wisconsin Dells Chamber of Commerce, and anything similar to that I would like for this to happen within the next 2 days, before Thursday at midnight, while the Dells song is still at the top of the Main Page of the FuMP dot com. If you are willing to do this for me, please contact me and I will give you my Gmail login password, so you can send them from my Gmail account, so any responses to the emails will go directly to me. In return, I'll compensate you in whatever way you'd prefer (money, art, live performance at your house, whatever). Contact me ASAP at thegreatlukeski@gmail.com or here if you're interested. Thanks. - Luke | | Wednesday, July 8th, 2009 | | 1:48 pm |

The solution... 4Easysoft Creative Zen Video Converter is my new best friend. :) My new best friend wants $24.95 for our relationship to continue, so I need to run to the bank. Thank you to everyone who offered their knowledge to the help solve the problem! :) | | 3:24 pm |
The problem...
I have AVIs, this item plays AVIs. Why won't the item play *my* AVIs? Possibly, they are the wrong playback capacity. Okay, how do I make my AVIs the correct playback capacity without losing video quality? The answer after days of trying to figure it out: ?????fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck!@#$%^&*????? The item plays Dr. Who AVIs downloaded from across a fucking ocean that look and sound like DVD quality, even when plugged into a TV. So I know this device has the ability to play high quality looking AVIs, it just won't play my AVIs, and I don't know why, and none of my software I have seems to have the functionality to allow me to convert the AVIs into the correct playback capacity. The item: A 30 GB Zen Vision M MP3 player My software: Windows XP Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 ZEN Vision M Series Media Explorer Windows Media Player 11 Windows Movie Maker What I suspect is the correct playback capacity: Video: 320x240, 30 frames per second Total bitrate: somewhere between 414 and 835 (764?) Kbps, constant bit rate, 1 pass (or 2) Worst case scenario, I have figured out how to use the ZEN Vision M Series Media Explorer to convert the AVIs to WMVs, but there is a noticeable drop in video quality (at least to me). It's passable, but it feels like a ripoff because as I said, it plays other AVIs with pristine video quality. If anyone has any wisdom on this that will help me, I will gladly accept it. Thank you, and thank you to Janny and ShoEboX for their suggestions from yesterday. UPDATE: A solution has been found! See next LJ post... | | 3:26 am |
The Sienkowski Brothers invade the FuMP dot com! Luke Ski Update – July 7th, 2009 If you have been to the Wisconsin Dells, you know. If you have not been to the Wisconsin Dells, hopefully by the end of this rap song, you will want to go and experience it for yourself. For decades, this region of the Dairy State has lured in millions of visitors with it's combination of natural pristine awe-inspiring beauty, going hand-in-hand with the most crass kitschy touristy commercialism you've ever seen. Much like Route 66, it is true Americana at it's best, and I've been in love with the place since childhood, and this song is my love letter to it. In early June 2008, a weekend of torrential rainfall caused man-made Lake Delton to breach a shoreline near the Wisconsin river, which emptied it only a few hours, just before their busy summer season was supposed to begin. This year Lake Delton is back, and I've decided to use all my powers of internet promotion to get as many people as I can to go visit the Dells again, or for the first time. Links to all of the places mentioned are on the Lyrics page. [Note: I was not paid to endorse any of all of these real places mentioned in this song, but I'd gladly accept freebies from any of them, wink wink.] So whether you're there for the 150 years of history and natural beauty, or for the 200 waterslides and souvenir shops, a trip to the Wisconsin Dells will be a great time that will make you say, 'Yep, I can see why Luke Ski loves this place'. Background music by myself and Bob 'Clark W. Griswold' Emmett of Project Sisyphus, featuring chorus vocals by Carrie 'Are we there yet?' Dahlby. Cameo by Sara 'No, I will not elope to the Dells with you' Trice. "We're Goin' To The Dells (The Wisconsin Dells)" by the great Luke Ski, featuring Carrie Dahlby Download it for free today at http://www.thefump.com Also at the FuMP dot com, on the Sideshow page... Hi, Luke Ski here, and today I present a song by my brother Michael and his band Whatfor, comprised of Michael Sienkowski, Elliott Kozel, and Phil Mahlstadt, sometimes known as Sleeping In The Aviary. Once while at a gig while another band was plaing an up-tempo number, Michael observed a sad gothy kid up against a wall, who was bopping to the music while maintaining his morose pose. Michael turned to one of his band mates and said, "He doesn't know if wants to cry or dance. I guess he'll just ' crance'." That was this inspiration for this ginchy Liverpudlian jam for all you emo kids on the dance floor. So everybody join Whatfor, and fake it 'til you make it with THE CRANCE! "The Crance" by Whatfor Download it for free today at http://www.thefump.com/side.php?id=519 ( Read more... ) | | Monday, July 6th, 2009 | | 6:57 pm |

Nerdapalooza EP CD thingy idea
So, I have this idea to put out a 5-song EP CD at Nerdapalooza which I would sell for $5, containing four songs I plan to perform there that I won't have for sale on the other CDs I'm selling there: Unconventional, Baconspiracy, Target: Audience (and maybe What A Ripoff VOlume 1 if I have room to bring them). Those 4 songs are: Stealing Like A Hobbit Peter Parker House Party At Arkham Asylum Star Wars Trilogy Homesick BluesSo my question to you all is, what should the 5th song be? It needs to be not from the aforementioned CDs, so something from either Psycho Potpourri, Carpe Dementia, Uber Geek, Worst Album Ever, or anything I've posted at the FuMP since September 2008. And so I ask unto you fanbase, what say ye? What should the 5th track be? | | 9:47 am |
